Pakistan is Producing Sugar-Free Mangoes for Diabetics

Pakistan has introduced three new varieties of sugar-free mangoes with 4-6 % sugar levels for diabetics.

The scientific modifications of mangoes were conducted by Pakistani mango experts at a private agriculture farm in Tando Allahyar, Sindh. They produced three different types of sugar-free mangoes.

The M H Panhwar Farms have scientifically modified mangoes for five years. The three varieties of mangoes have been named Glenn, Sonaro, and Keitt and are now available in the local markets in Pakistan.

These mangoes are specially created for diabetics because normal mangoes are high in sugar and sugar constitutes most of the calories in mangoes.

Ghulam Sarwar, a mango expert and the nephew of M H Panhwar has revealed that M H Panhwar is an expert in organic farming and has authored a huge number of research articles and manuals on mangoes. For his contribution and research on fruits, the government of Pakistan conferred Sitara-e-Imtiaz to Mr. Panhwar.

Ghulam Sarwar now carries out modification after importing different genres of mangoes to test them in this soil and atmosphere. He said that this research project is being conducted on a private basis without any assistance from the government departments. He added that he will introduce these new varieties of mangoes for diabetics on the national as well as international levels.
