Present government has taken several steps to improve the automotive industry in Pakistan. Several internationally recognized automotive companies are given incentives to establish their manufacturing plants in Pakistan. This will give a boost to the local automotive industry. Previous year, two new entracts; Haval and BAIC debuted in the local market. Several companies have launched new models of car in their lineups. In 2021, we saw 15 new cars including five sedans, one hatchback, two hybrids, one jeep, seven crossovers and one jeep. Similarly, in 2022, we will witness some of the best cars ever on the roads of Pakistan. I have compiled the list of the expected launches this year in Pakistan. So, let’s get on with it.

11th Generation Honda Civic
Honda is going to launch the biggest launch of 2022 in Pakistan with the 11th Generation Honda Civic. The current model of Honda Civic has won many people’s hearts but the coming model surely has the potential to break all the records.
Honda launched the 11th Generation Honda Civic in April 2021 and it is being sold in different countries like the US, Thailand and Canada. The new Civic will come in two variants. These variants will be completely different from each other in design. One is a sedan and the other is a hatchback body style.
Honda Atlas imported a test unit of the new Honda Civic from Thailand so it means that the first unit of the 11th Generation Honda Civic is already here in Pakistan. We will probably see the next-generation model on our market.
12th Generation Toyota Corolla Hybrid
Toyota has come up with a worthy competitor of the new Honda Civic. Pakistan will have the latest 12th generation Toyota Corolla on the market in 2022. What’s more is that we will be getting a hybrid Corolla for the first time ever.
The 12th generation Toyota Corolla Hybrid was launched and made its global debut in late 2018 but it didn’t come to our local market. So, Toyota has decided to launch this car in the international markets and we will be getting the Hybrid Toyota Corolla after 2.5 years.
As we all know the importance and benefits of hybrid cars, Toyota has taken big steps and added a number of hybrid models to its lineup of cars. And now they will be in Pakistan as well. For now, Toyota Indus is preparing the ground for introducing the 12th generation hybrid Corolla and we will have it on our roads by summer 2022.
MG GT
Another sedan to be introduced in Pakistan in 2022 is the amazing MG GT or MG 5. There has been a lot of talk about it and almost all of you have heard about it.
MG Motors imported a test unit of MG GT months ago and we are getting impatient about the launch of this car on our market. The test unit of MG GT has been to every major city of Pakistan. The official launch of MG GT is expected to be in December 2022. At present, it is being displayed at Packages Mall Lahore.
Just like other MG cars, this car will be offered as a CBU import.
Hatchback Cars in Pakistan 2022
4th Generation Suzuki Swift
You heard it right, Suzuki is launching a new generation of Suzuki Swift after 11 years. The old 1st generation of Swift has been discontinued by Pak Suzuki and is preparing for the launch of the latest model.
The 4th generation Suzuki Swift was launched in March 2017 and received a facelift in 2020. In 2022, Pakistan will have the pre-facelift model.
Pak Suzuki has imported two test units of this new Swift model. It is hoped that the new Suzuki Swift will be on our market by the middle of this year.
Crossovers & SUVs in Pakistan 2022
Chery Tiggo 4 Pro
Crossovers & SUVs have witnessed a boom in the automotive market in Pakistan. This year, we have more of these superb and powerful vehicles in line. One of these cars is the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro; a 5-seater subcompact crossover. It is expected to be launched early next year.
The news of Chery SUVs coming to Pakistan in December 2020. In August 2021, Chery imported two test units of its SUVs; Chery Tigga 4 and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
After rigorous trials and testing, Chery Pakistan announced the specs and features of the Tigga 4 Pro at an exclusive event in Karachi.
Chery Tiggo 8 Pro
Chery is going to launch another SUV this year that is; Chery Tiggo 8 Pro. Its test unit was imported along with Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and its specs and features were unveiled at the same event in Karachi as Chery Tiggo 4 Pro.
Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is a 7-seater, midsize crossover much similar to Honda BR-V, DFSK Glory 580 Pro and KIA Sorento.
Proton X50
Proton has been pretty active in recent years and has launched a sedan and a SUV. Now, it is preparing to launch a smaller B-segment crossover.
Proton X50 was first launched in October 2020 and took the Malaysian market by storm. You can imagine the success of this car by the fact that Proton delivered more than 11,000 units from October 2020 to March 2021. It is still having a hard time meeting the orders.
Proton Pakistan is importing CBU units for testing and the CKD domestic model by the end of 2022.
DFSK Glory 500
Glory 580 and 580 Pro have shown great success which has prompted Regal Automobiles to add another member to the Glory family; DFSK Glory 500. It is a 5-seater subcompact crossover quite similar to Proton X50.
DFSK Glory 500 was launched in China in November 2020. One of the reasons why it is loved by the people is that it is super-economical. It has been designed as a family SUV which is accessible to everyone.
In Pakistan, DFSK Glory 500 as CBU units will be launched in the beginning of 2022.
GAC GS3
Guangzhou Automobile Group is another Chinese auto manufacturer entering the market in 2022. GAC GS3 is a 5-seater crossover similar to Hyundai Tucson, KIA Sportage, MG HS.
Rumours are that GAC will launch CBU units in Pakistan in 2022 and will start local assembly in the next couple of years.
Changan Oshan X7 Plus
Changan has been targeting the SUV market in Pakistan for a while now. Changan Pakistan imported CBU units of its international best seller SUVs for test and trial. There are Changan UNI-T, Changan UNI-K and Changan Oshan X7 that have been tested right now in Pakistan.
